Mandy’s Gluten Free Pizza, Yum!
I live in a small town about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, so there’s not much hope of getting pizza from a pizzeria in my town. However, my daughter and son-in-law live in the heart of the city and on Saturday my husband and I were at their house for the day. My husband was helping our son-in-law cut a doorway into a wall for their new deck.
Our daughter had told me about a pizza shop in her neighborhood that offered gluten free pizza. And since our daughter is very pregnant, (due September 10th), and has a very active 3 year old to chase around after, I suggested she not plan on cooking for us. I said let’s try the pizza.
Mandy’s Pizza has 2 locations. One on the Northside of Pittsburgh and one in Westview. The Westview location is the only one that offers the gluten free menu. And what a menu it is.
They not only offer a pizza crust that is gluten, milk, egg, and soy-free, but will also make your pizza with your own special cheese if you can’t have regular cheese and will give you a free topping because of it.
They also offer gluten free Calzones, flatbread sandwiches, and a Rotini dinner that includes a side salad and their House Italian Dressing.
I have to say that the pizza was really good. And it was nice to be able to have dinner out with my family without having to make a big deal about it.
They say on their menu that Mandy’s started making gluten free pizza as a direct result of their little son’s severe food allergies and his wanting need to eat what they made….Pizza and Pasta.
Whatever their reason for starting, I hope that they continue and expand their gluten free offerings to all their shops.
My hope is that someday all restauranteurs will offer safe food for food allergic people.
Thank you Mandy’s Pizza, Westview, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

I am really really wanting a good gluten free pizza crust recipe for home, do you have one? Thanks
I’ve been using Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Pizza Crust mix for about a year. It takes a bit of doing (the moderator may release my e-mail to you if you would like to discuss my tweaks on it further). But I really like it, have probably made 20 times.
Haha — I agree, Mandy’s Pizza is pretty awesome — i wrote an almost identical post about Mandy’s on my gluten free blog
I <3 Pizza!
