Hi, Mary: We love this site and appreciate you getting the word out about our Tour. We're heading to Philadelphia this weekend, April 28th at Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA. Tickets are available at celiacawarenesstourphilly.eventbrite.com I wanted to get you an updated schedule--we had a date change for Columbus and we've added Detroit, so I was hoping you could edit your post for us?

2012 Celiac Awareness Tour Schedule
Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

April 28, 2012 Philadelphia, PA Crowne Plaza Valley Forge, King of Prussia, PA
May 12, 2012 Columbus, OH Aladdin Shrine Center
September 8, 2012	Detroit, MI TBA
September 22, 2012 Cincinnati, OH Cintas Center (Xavier University)
October 13, 2012 Chicago, IL Crowne Plaza, Rosemont, IL
November 17, 2012 Cleveland, OH Embassy Suites, Independence, OH

It's always difficult to read an unhappy comment from someone who attended--because we know most of our gluten-free attendees have a very positive experience. All we can do is continue to work hard to bring together great speakers and chefs, delicious gluten-free products and the gluten-free community for a great day of entertainment, excitement and entertainment!
THANK YOU! Alison

Until I learned how to make a decent gluten-free pie crust I really missed pumpkin pie and coconut cream pie, but fruit pies were never my favorites either.

Back in the day, I used to bake a lot of pies. A LOT. Hundreds per day. Of course, they were frozen at the bakery I worked at, so we egg-washed and sugared the top and then baked until golden brown. I never really liked pie then though. I enjoyed pecan pie and pie crust but I was never big on fruit fillings.

CharlieAnn,

I would bake it in a 350 degree oven for 2 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees when insertet into the center of the turkey breasts.

Mary,
Could I make this by baking in the oven at 300 degrees to 325 degrees for the same amount of time? I don't own a slow cooker.
Thank you,
CharlieAnn

Karen,

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience at the Indianapolis Celiac Awareness Tour. I was sick with the flu when they came through Pittsburgh so I didn't make it there.

I would be interested to hear from anyone else who went to any of the other tours to see if what you experienced was the norm or just a one time thing.

Like you, I would have been pretty grossed out to be handed food samples without the person wearing gloves. Plus I didn't think there was any kind of a fee to get in. I just assumed that it was free.

If anybody out there went in your town, please let us know about your experience.

Just fyi, this group is a JOKE. The Indianapolis IN tour was such a disappointment. They were charging $10 to see approx. 18 vendors????? The room was small and dark. They were handing out samples w/out gloves or any kind of area to wash hands, etc. I actually asked one of the vendors if they had a place to wash hands and they said no other than the bathroom there wasn't any place. I can't believe the health dept. didn't have an issue with this.

On their ads everywhere they put a bunch of logo's up and we went thinking those companies would be there but they weren't. It was a lot of false advertising.

There were vendors handing out samples and no place anywhere close to purchase a drink or get water, etc. We listened to one of the speakers (the coupon lady or something) and she was monotone and not very easy to listen to.

If the Celiac Awareness Tour is planning to come back to Indianapolis, I don't plan to attend and will be sharing our experience with our local groups. It was definitely NOT worth the $10.
