It can be really hard to have a positive attitude when you are newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I remember not too long after I had been diagnosed, it was a relief to know what was wrong with me, but knowing what to eat or how to cook for my family was the worst! I remember my family, (hubby and kids), wanting pizza for dinner, I had never made a gluten-free pizza crust before, but I tried with the very few resources I had. It turned out awful! I remember standing in the kitchen, crying, not just tears running down my cheeks crying, but full out sobbing, crying out loud, crying.

I have to say, I’ve come a long way since that day almost 30 years ago. I don’t get quite so upset about not being able to eat glutenous foods, but I’m not always rainbows and unicorns either. 😉

What I have learned though, is that attitude plays a very important role in the way we feel and how we react to certain stressors.

When you start thinking with a positive mind your whole attitude changes and you will see your environment with a new light. A positive mind allows you to handle everyday situations far better and this includes all the ups and downs of celiac disease. The act of positive thinking is a habit that you want to get into. It will allow you to dream about your future and take actions to make things happen!

There is no doubt that life is hard and there will be times when you need to laugh, cry and celebrate. You should allow yourself to express all of these emotions. You can make better decisions when your mind is not clouded with negative thoughts.

Here are a few ways to always keep your mind thinking positively:

  • Always keep your sense of humor
  • Don’t allow negative thoughts to intrude
  • Be grateful for what you have and don’t dwell on what you don’t have
  • Try to be surrounded with positive thinking people
  • Don’t become a worrier

Yes, it is hard to always think with a positive mind but once you start thinking this way, you will actually feel better about life in general. A positive mind generates positive energy and helps to you feel like a winner.

It is possible to create your own future and destiny and this can be achieved with a positive mind. Remember only you can make things change.

Your health can be affected with negative thoughts and this can lead to depression, anxiety, panic attacks and stress. Am I saying that I am always happy or upbeat? No, but I do try and on those days when I am in a funk and can’t seem to get out of it, I turn to my essential oils. Diffusing certain oils can have a positive impact on our emotions. There are days when I’m not sure I could make it through the day without my essential oils, but a positive attitude also gets me through my day.

It’s time to stop feeling sorry for yourself and having a woe is me attitude. That way of thinking just leads to depression and physical illness.
