My husband and I are on vacation this week. Actually, we’re on stay-cation. We decided to stay home this week because we will be going to Florida in November for a 10 day vacation. I’m going for a three day coaching mastery conference and decided to take my hubby with me and extend our time. Kind of like the honeymoon we never had.

Anyway, we drove to Effingham, Illinois last Friday to meet our daughter-in-law to pick up our oldest granddaughter. She spends at least two weeks of her summer vacation with us every year. We’ve been having a blast.

My husband has been busy during his stay-cation, doing chores around the house that he enjoys doing. He built us a gazebo off of our deck, so that I have an outside “office” to work in while I watch our grandchildren play and swim. He’s power washing things. He’s also spending some down time, reading, and sitting around the campfire. (We live in the country on 10 acres, so we can have real campfires.)

We’ve been doing a lot of playing too! We’ve been swimming everyday, my granddaughter went to Pittsburgh’s famous amusement park, Kennywood, with her Uncle, Aunt, (my daughter), her three cousins, and family friends visiting from Scotland. They had a blast!

She and I had a girls day out where we spent the whole day shopping at an outlet mall. We’ve been cooking together, swimming, laughing and just having fun.

We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect week for our vacation if we had tried. The weather has been wonderfully dry, sunny, barely any humidity, with temperatures in the low to mid 80’s all week. Which has been a rarity here in Pittsburgh as of late.

I have one more week with my now teenage granddaughter before we travel back to Illinois to meet up with her mom. I have loved having her here. She’s seems so grown up from the little girl that used to follow me around. And although we live so far away from each other, we are still very, very close.

Anyway, next week I’ll be back with regular health related blog posts, but today and this week, I’m kicking back.

Enjoy whatever you’re doing this week and like to do on your vacation.
