Today is National Barbecue Day! In honor of that, I have a non-traditional grilled burger for you. These grilled Portobello mushroom burgers are juicy, tender and oh so satisfying. Even the meat eaters in your life will love these hearty sandwiches!

  1. 1. Preheat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to medium-high.
  2. 2. Brush the mushrooms with olive oil on both sides and grill just until fork-tender, 4-5 minutes per side.
  3. 3. Brush the mushrooms with BBQ sauce and season to taste with salt and pepper. Grill for another 1-2 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  4. 4. Spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise on each burger bun, top with the BBQ grilled mushroom, lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, red onion, and pickles.
  5. 5. Serve immediately.
  6. 6. Enjoy!
