These air fried onion rings are just as crisp and delicious as their deep fried cousins, but they are so good that your family will never guess that they are A) air fried, and B) gluten-free. You can exchange the buttermilk for almond or coconut milk and they will then not only be gluten-free but also dairy free.

Instructions
  1. Spray air fryer trays with gluten free non-stick vegetable spray.
  2. Peel and slice onions 3/4 inch thick, then carefully separate the rings from each other.
  3. In the Pampered Chef Coating Tray or small bowl, combine cornstarch, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, and granulated onion.
  4. In another PC Coating Tray or small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg and mayonnaise. Add half of the corn starch mixture to the buttermilk and whisk until smooth and thickened.
  5. In the third PC Coating Tray or small bowl combine the breadcrumbs, salt and oil.
  6. Dredge the onion rings in the cornstarch mixture, then drop them into the buttermilk. Drain excess batter and then dredge in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture.
  7. Arrange onion rings on the air fryer trays in a single layer. You can place smaller rings inside of the larger ones, if necessary, just be sure that there is enough space between them. Place in the air fryer and air fry at 400 degrees for 16 minutes, rotating trays halfway through, or until golden and crisp.
  8. Serve immediately with a side of ranch dressing. Enjoy!
