I love this recipe! It was my go to recipe for flat iron steak when flat irons were fairly cheap. Now my local grocer went from selling flat iron steak for $4.99 a pound to over $6.00 a pound. At that rate, I may as well wait until New York Strips go on sale for $6.99 a pound.
But if you find some flat iron steaks for a reasonable price this holiday weekend, then by all means try this recipe. You won’t be disappointed.
Grilled Flat Iron Steaks in Sweet Balsamic Marinade
About 8 Minutes
In a large glass bowl, whisk together the balsamic, Worcestershire, brown sugar, and garlic.
Add the flat iron steaks to the mixture, cover with plastic wrap and let sit for 25 minutes at room temperature. Turn the meat in the bowl several times during the marinating process.
Preheat grill to medium-high heat and oil the grate or prepare a grilling pan for the steak.
Remove steak from the bowl and discard marinade.
Sprinkle both sides of steak with salt and pepper, then place steak on grill, close lid, and cook for just 3 minutes, flip and cook another 3 minutes or until done to your liking.
Remove steak from grill and let the steak stand at room temperature for 5 minutes; cover loosely with a foil tent, but do not close tight.
Before serving, cut steaks into very thin slices on the diagonal and serve immediately.
